Adele and Matt were married at their family church, followed by a hotel wedding reception in Ottawa!!
The story of Adele and Matt goes all the way back to high school, where they first met as part of a church youth group…but where their love story really takes off was on a road trip across Canada – and I really do mean across the country!! Adele had been living in Yellowknife for two and a half years, and Matt was a commercial building inspector who always liked the idea of driving across Canada. After a week of travelling together in the car, Adele was convinced that their relationship was purely platonic. She jokes that they could “barely spend a week in a car together” so there was no way their relationship would take off from there…
Well…a year later (perhaps after realizing that spending a week in a car with anyone would be rough!!), Matt finally asked her out on a date. She said yes, and their friendship slowly turned to a love story, which would eventually lead to a proposal and their wedding at the Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Airport Hotel!
Some of my favourite memories from Adele and Matt’s wedding day included: their twist on the ‘First Look’, where they prayed together outside the church without seeing each other; Adele’s bouquet with the official floral emblem of the Northwest Territories; and signage throughout the wedding made by her sister at Wishtree Invites!
This fall wedding and the people in it fill my heart with love!! Enjoy this sneak peek of Matt and Adele’s Hotel Wedding at the Hilton Garden Inn!
Having sisters who are involved in your wedding is such a gift!! And when one of those sisters is the boss babe behind Wishtree Invites, you know the signage throughout the day is gonna be pro!!
Fun fact about Matt: he is one of the most talented woodworkers I’ve ever met. Second fun fact about Matt: he knows his way around a sewing machine (and stitched personalized handkerchiefs for all the men in his family and wedding party)!!
Guests were greeted at the Holy Cross Parish with live music on the guitar and piano.
This was my first time witnessing a ‘First Look’, where the bride and groom didn’t actually see each other! Adele and Matt took a few minutes to pray and be together outside the church, before the ceremony began indoors.
These kids were the best behaved ring bearers and flower girls!!
I’ve seen SO many incredible bouquets this year, but it’s always the bouquets with stories that become my favourites!! Like Adele’s bouquet, containing the official floral emblem of the Northwest Territories (where her and Matt’s love story begins!!) and blue thistles to represent the Scottish side of Matt’s heritage.
Adele, Matt!! I hope you’re on a warm sandy beach on your honeymoon as you read this post!!
From the minute I met you two, you felt like instant friends and it’s been such a pleasure getting to know you and seeing you so happy on your wedding day!! I wish you guys the the best in everything to come and I hope that your #happilyeverettafter hashtag translates to real life together as husband and wife!! Congratulations, you sweethearts, and thanks so much for the pleasure of being your photographers!!!
