Lifestyle Maternity Photos in Ottawa on ‘Pancake Sunday’

For me and my husband – Shaun, Sundays are all about pancakes.

It’s been that way ever since our wedding back in August 2016, when Shaun vowed – yes, literally vowed – ‘to make us pancakes every Sunday’. Up until that point, pancakes were our way of relaxing on Sunday mornings after the bustle of shooting Saturday weddings, but once he spoke those words at our ceremony, it was a done deal…pancakes. every. single. Sunday.

So when my dear friend Batoul of Ali and Batoul Photography offered to take our lifestyle maternity photos on a Sunday, we knew we had to incorporate our Sunday pancake tradition into the photos…

For those who are counting, it’s been 130 weeks since August 13th, 2016…which means…we’ve eaten pancakes…130 times since our wedding day…That’s a lot of pancake mix!!

Now, you might be wondering what happens when one of us is out of town or we aren’t home on a Sunday…some of my favourite pancake memories include: Shaun driving to the grocery store to buy mix the morning after our wedding (a Sunday) while I was still sleeping; or the time he went away for work and delivered Uber Eats to the house; or there are the friends who stock their cupboards with pancake mix for him when we stay over on Saturdays!! He literally hasn’t missed a Sunday!

But of course this session wasn’t all about pancakes…

…or decaf coffee…

It was about our ‘Wee Babe’!!…We’re expecting!! And this time next year, Christmas is going to look very different!!

What we know so far is that this darling bump is a girl, due mid March, and that she likes to move around when her mama is trying to sleep!!

What better way to celebrate Christmas than the anticipation of a daughter! Now…to see what happens for breakfast if she’s born on a Sunday ;)
