If you had told Jamie and Jon on the day they first started dating that they’d be in the labour and delivery room on that same date, just a few years later, it would’ve been hard to believe…but it’s true!! And in the wee hours of the morning on November 13th, 2018 Braedon Edward Petten made his grand debut into the world!

I first met Jamie and Jon way back in 2015 in the planning stages of their Horitculture Building Wedding at Lansdowne. From the moment Jamie and I met, it was clear that we had more in common than I do with most brides: we had both created custom gemstone engagement rings through the same woman at the same jeweller; we were both getting married in the same year; and our mothers were both named Anne (okay okay, that last one probably isn’t all that crazy)…We even ran into each other while we were shopping for wedding dresses at the same bridal stores!! The truth of it all was that Jamie wasn’t just my bride, she was a genuine friend and someone that I knew I’d keep in touch with long after their wedding was over.

Given the above, learning that Jamie and I were both pregnant at the same time didn’t come as a huge shock…I remember messaging her on our ‘baby moon’ in Arizona while she was pacing the halls of the Ottawa Civic Hospital to help progress her labour. I kept checking Instagram for news when we could, but it would still be another full day (Jamie, you wonder woman, you!!!) before that birth announcement would be shared with the world.
