Lifestyle Newborn Photos in Ottawa, Canada

I’ve always believed that becoming a mother has been my calling, and to be able to document this season of life for other parents through newborn photos is such a dream. You can imagine then how excited I was when Bryanne reached out to me with news of her pregnancy and to chat about scheduling newborn photos! At the time, the world had yet to hear the words ‘COVID-19’ and we were blissfully unaware of the storm that was coming…

I remember hearing stories through my favourite birth podcast – The Birth Hour – of women giving birth at the start of this pandemic and realizing how hard it must be for families who were expecting…some facilities insisted that everyone – including the labouring mother! – wore masks at all time (I can’t even imagine pushing with a mask on…wow!), while others wouldn’t even let partners be present in the room for the birth… Thinking about friends – like Bryanne – who would soon be living through that reality always made me nervous, tho of course we knew Bryanne was in the safest hands with her midwives at The East Ottawa Midwives.

To be born as lucky as miss Ivy, is an amazing thing indeed. Not only does she have two of the most wonderful parents (and an entire group of extended family and friends who already adore her!) but she has been born into a family with so much artistic talent. We saw this at Bryanne and Foster’s wedding last fall,  through their selection of colours and florals in their wedding design, much of which was reflected in their new home in Ottawa. Take one look at the bold floral wallpaper in Ivy’s nursery and you’ll see right away what I mean! Every girl-mom’s dream nursery!

In a time filled with so much negative media and fear, newborn photos like these are so important. It’s my hope that they bring a smile to your face and that we can all take a moment away from the woes of COVID to say congratulations to these new parents (and to also swoon over that wallpaper)!
