Engagement photos on an old country road in Navan
You know you’re going to get along great with a couple when one of the first things they say to you – after showing up to their abandoned backroad engagement session – is: “I swear we didn’t bring you out here to kill you”…haha! You guys, this was funny in the moment…but it gets funnier! I kid you not, not even 2 minutes later, while walking down the old country road, we stumbled across a gigantic animal corpse, just hanging for a tree…and I’m talking like, a meter long backbone, vertebrate and all, strung up in a cedar tree…I’ve truthfully never seen anything like it (haha)…but mann, did we ever have a laugh!
Mackenzie and Jay’s engagement session got far less grim from that moment on…promise (haha)! The backroad that we were on was actually an old dirt road that once lead up near Mackenzie’s parents’ property; the site where these two will be getting married in September! I love that this location has personal significance to the couple and I hope that these pictures bring them as much joy to look back on as they did for me while taking them!
I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again; engagement sessions always get me even more excited for a couple’s wedding day! That’s mostly because engagement sessions really help us get to know each other better, and also ’cause they’re like a little sneak preview into what our time together will be like on the big day. This could not be more true than for Mackenzie and Jay’s wedding – this backroad engagement session with them was just too much fun, and I truly feel like I’ve hit the bride + groom jackpot with these two! So kind, funny, and naturally photogenic…their wedding day will be one for the books!

Can’t wait for Mackenzie and Jay’s wedding in Navan in just a couple months time! September can’t come soon enough!
