Lindsay and Tom’s Opinicon wedding had the coolest vibe of a destination wedding, but with less than a 2h of drive from downtown Ottawa!! Most of their 80-some guests booked private cottages on-site for a two-night stay, making this wedding day into a wedding weekend!! This fact alone makes The Opinicon one of my favourite up and coming wedding venues in the region, but what I learned was that the charm of the grounds and the incredible staff made the whole experience of this Opinicon wedding one of my all-time favourite places to get married!!
Indeed, Lindsay and Tom were married at one of the region’s ‘newest’ wedding venues!! But if you’ve been following along with The Opinicon’s renovation story over the past couple years (gotta love Instagram for that!!), you know that calling this property ‘new’ is a HUGE understatement…this (almost) 150 year old property has been welcoming tourists on the shore of the Rideau lakes for years, but it’s only recently that this ‘Grand Old Dame of the Rideau’ has started hosting weddings! With outdoor ceremony options by the water, and the cutest cottage-style reception room for dinner, it’s so clear why Lindsay and Tom chose the Opinicon as the backdrop for their wedding day.

Moments like when Lindsay walked down the aisle with her dad; fashion goals, like the white bridesmaid dresses and dark groomsmen suits; details like the neon wedding sign above their head table; and memories from their kissing game, which had all the guests laughing out loud (grandma’s reaction is the BEST!!!!).
