k, I admit it…I’m an egosurfer…I find joy in searching my name on Google and seeing what results pop up…don’t pretend you’ve never done it (and yes, Facebook counts!). My personal favourite is the time I found a tombstone with my full name on it; very spooky. As a business owner, I now have more legitimate reasons for plugging my name into a search engine, and more specifically, my business name. In an ideal world, anyone would be able to find my website and information about my services, but in reality, there’s a lot of search engine optimization that needs to be dealt with.
For my own research, I decided to type ‘Amy Sturgeon Photography’ into Google, to see what comes up. What I found was so exciting, that I immediately called Shaun over and couldn’t stop smiling.
Earlier this year, I was contacted by Kristen Klein of Bridal Guide about publishing one of my images on their website. Almost six months later, I hadn’t heard anything about the progress of the article, so I figured it must have been called off…
…I was mistaken!:

There it was…images I photographed from Tyler and Mandy’s first look! It’s a great feeling to know that other people appreciate your services when you work so hard at what you do. To have my business name put in a category with other photographers that I highly, highly respect is one of the biggest honours I have ever experienced; second only to the honour of being invited to photograph the weddings I attend.
Now, I know that having my images displayed on that webpage likely won’t result in many leads in terms of bookings, but that’s not going to stop me from living on cloud 9. No matter how successful I am in my business, I hope that I never take this accomplishment for granted.
Grinning from ear-to-ear,
Amy
