Ottawa Brookstreet Hotel wedding with traditional Chinese celebrations
I almost can’t believe that the day of Michelle and Micky’s Brookstreet Hotel wedding has finally come. What’s even harder to believe is remembering back to the day when I first got Michelle’s email while she was searching for a wedding photographer, way back, in February 2020. I kid you not, I opened her email on a beach in Mexico while photographing Dustin and Jillian’s Mayan Riviera destination wedding before anyone on earth had even heard the word COVID-19…that’s how long we’ve been waiting for Michelle and Micky to tie the knot! With pandemic delays officially behind us, these two were married on the outdoor pavilion of Brookstreet Hotel, followed by an intimate tea ceremony and reception in the Grand Scheme Ballroom!
Their day was everything I could have hoped for for these two and more! Michelle is actually one of the most well-prepared brides we’ve ever met, and if you know Michelle, this shouldn’t surprise you! Their colour scheme was curated to perfection, with the soft purple hues of the bridesmaid dresses pairing perfectly with the pops of pink and purples in their bouquets. Fresh flower arrangements filled every scene of their day, from their floral ceremony arbour, to their reception tables, to the top of their 3-tiered wedding cake (which smelled heavenly as you walked past the dessert table)! Michelle’s dress, with its off-the-shoulder sleeves, and Micky’s navy blue suit set the tone for this classically romantic wedding day…and can we please all take note that Micky had a real bowtie (vs. a clip on), which surely took nerves of steel to tie while on camera and on video, just minutes before heading down to marry his bride (he assured us that he had practiced before the wedding day…haha)!
Some of my favourite moments from this Brookstreet wedding that will forever stand out in my mind include their confetti toss as they recessed down the aisle (always a favourite moment!), their traditional Chinese tea ceremony (where the bride and groom both changed into traditional red outfits and served tea to their families in exchange for well wishes and gifts), and the – umm…unique! – dragon dance that you just had to see to believe!
Without further ado, please enjoy Michelle and Micky’s Brookstreet wedding in Ottawa!
Congrats, Micky and Michelle and thank you for inviting us to be a part of your incredible wedding at Brookstreet Hotel!
