heir love for travel isn’t what brought them together, but is what brought them to Scotland. They packed their bags, loaded up their small rental car, and prepared for a journey across the Northern countryside. There’s no question that Katie and Matt are well-travelled – Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, Ireland, Switzerland…they’ve seen them all – but this trip was sure to make a lasting impression in their travel logs…With the Scottish mountainside as a backdrop, Matt prepared a tripod with a camera to document his proposal of epic proportions – the only problem was that their automatic camera remote was busted! Not to worry, as Matt had prepared for this with a Plan B: the 10 second camera timer. As the timer ticked down, he fiddled in his pocket for the ring and quickly made his way over to Katie. She noticed his fiddling, but by the time the ten seconds were up, it no longer mattered; Matt was down on one knee, and she was being presented with a stunning diamond solitaire engagement ring that made the beauty of the mountainside pale in comparison.
Katie and Matt will be married this October, but first we decided to journey out on a picnic to document their love through an engagement session. We made our way to Fletcher Wildlife Garden – a site in Ottawa that none of us had yet to explore.
It was what you would call the perect Summer evening – warm air, a slight breeze, and a sunset that makes you want to stop and stare.
I fully believe that every couple should know a couple 2-player card games to pass the time. Gin rummy anyone?

Katie and Matt, thank you for opening my eyes to this site in the Arboretum and for being such incredible travel companions. One day you’ll have to tell me just how many countries you two have visited together…I seemed to have lost track at seven! Your travel bug inspires me to whip out my passport and explore somewhere new, and the love you share is a continuous inspiration to us all. It’s just a little under 6 weeks until your wedding now, and I absolutely can’t wait!
