Nepean Sailing Club Engagement Photos

Kellen and JP are living the dream: owning a boat and taking off for days at a time on their own private sailboat. It’s a world I know very little about (as proven by my not-so savvy boat vocabulary!!) but one I’ve always had a heart for. Hearing the story of how these two purchased this boat from friends and picked up on the tricks of sailing along the way is something I find beyond inspiring!!

From the minute I met Kellen and JP, there was never any doubt that we’d take their engagement photos on their sailboat, and – of course – their dog Carson would be coming too!!

They launched their boat – the Circe IV – for the season a few weeks ago and I met up with them last week along the shore of the Nepean Sailing Club!

Just living the dream life of owing a boat and a dog and taking sunset cruises down the Ottawa river – no biggie!!…(…totally a biggie!!)

And as the sun went down the light changed to a dreamy shade of orange – ‘the golden hour’ as we photographers like to call it!!

..and speaking of dreamy…

Kellen’s custom wood engagement ring is so perfectly her!! I’ve heard JP’s wedding ring has a similar band of wood, and I can’t wait to see them side-by-side on the wedding day!!

Kellen!! JP!! Knowing that you two started this sailing journey together from the start is something I find so inspiring!! Thank you for having me aboard (and for teaching me which ropes to hold onto – so as not to fall completely into the water!!…it’s the forestay…right?…I think…? wow…thank God you know these things!) – you inspire me to follow your passions in life and to try new things!! You’re both amazing people and I want to thank you for a fun evening on your sailboat!!
