When I walked in to Grace’s bridal suite at the Brookstreet Hotel, I was greeted by Grace, her mum, her mother- and sister-in-law, her niece and…
…the groom – Ricky!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw him sitting there!! What about the tradition, the suspense, the timeline!! I had to hold myself back from jumping in front of Grace and shielding her from view!…
It was then that I remembered that Grace and Ricky had already been married in a city hall wedding in 2016, and that the events of the day would be far more relaxed from typical wedding day traditions…Today was all about celebrating this marriage with friends and family at NeXT Restaurant in Stittsville, and although the day was still full of traditions, Ricky and Grace brought their own unique personalities to the day in some super creative ways – more to come on that, later! ;)
Ricky was soon shuffled out the door again, giving the two of them some time apart before their official ‘first look’ in their dress and suit. They shared a first look on the Marshes Golf Club before meeting with friends and family at NeXT Restaurant for their reception.

Remember that bit I mentioned above about Ricky and Grace bringing their personalities into the day in some super creative ways? Well this was one of my favourite examples: On each table sat a wooden box…
…and in each box was a prize…The only problem was, the boxes were all locked and the only way to open them was to solve a series of clues hidden around the table!! Much like the ‘Escape Room’ puzzles – that Grace so openly loves – guests had to work together to solve the clues and open the box!! But what were in the boxes, you ask?…
…Only custom fridge magnets of Grace and Ricky as 8 bit characters in a 90’s retro gameboy!! Guests went crazy over them!!
Grace, Ricky!! Thank you for inviting me to celebrate your wedding reception at NeXT Restaurant! May your relationship continue to be as strong and happy in the future, as it’s been in this past year of marriage! Never stop being the fun, creative and joyful couple that you are – we love you for it!! xo
