here was an ongoing understanding between the two of them that Tom would never propose on a holiday…For them, it had to be special and Erin definitely wanted his proposal to be a surprise…with this in mind, Tom knew that the best way to actually surprise her would be to do the exact opposite…with Erin’s 27th birthday around the corner, he knew it was the perfect time to propose. He laid down the ground work – with a few fibs about presents coming in late – and suggested they go out for dinner to celebrate her birthday. On their way out the door, Erin gathered her purse and turned to hold the door for Tom…but he wasn’t right behind her as she had expected…he was down the hall, on one knee, with a ring box in his hand. In this surprise moment, Erin cried tears of excitement and replied with a resounding ‘YES!’ to his proposal. They were married a few months later at NeXT Restaurant in Stittsville, with friends and family by their sides, and amazing food to celebrate.

Erin and Tom, your maid of honour – Sarah – said it best during her speech. When you two look at each other, you glow. Your faces light up and you smile a smile that is just different from the way you look at other people. You two make those around you feel happier by just being near you and I can honestly say, you truly deserve each other. Thank you, for being you and for the honour of being your photographer. And of course, Erin wrapped the cutest ‘thank-you gifts’ for her bridesmaids…

Just a short drive away, Tom and his groomsmen prepped for the day in their stylish Morris Formalwear suits.

Next, we made our way over to a historical property down the road for Erin and Tom’s first look. To say this is one of the happiest reactions from a groom that I’ve captured on camera – ever – would be an understatement.

Erin and Tom picked some amazing friends (and family) to be in their bridal party!

The ceremony and reception took place at NeXT Restaurant in Stittsville. I was so impressed by the attention to detail and the care that the NeXT coordinators put in to making sure the wedding party and guests were well taken care of. Not to mention, the food was delicious!

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour while the ceremony space was flipped for the night of celebrations.

And then began the evening of great food, toasts + celebrations!

Erin and her dad opened the dance floor with this incredible father-daughter dance…

…and then her dad lovingly handed her off to Tom for their first dance.

The rest of the night was non-stop dancing + celebrating with the newlyweds!

To the newlyweds, guests and staff at NeXT, thank you for inviting me to celebrate with you and for a fantastic evening with laugher + dancing. You are truly appreciated! x
