A navy Lakeside wedding at Otter Lake
t’s easy to see why a couple would choose Otter Lake Recreation Centre as their wedding venue, but they didn’t warn us that spending a single day there would make you want to come back again and again! Over the years, Otter Lake had become a huge part of Ashley’s family – through weekend visits and family celebrations – and getting married by the lake was as natural as the scenery that surrounds it.
As Ashley walked towards Tariq – with her parents by her side for support – the sun danced across the lake that they had come to know so well. They promised each other forever, and this year they’ll be celebrating – not only – 7 1/2 years of being a couple, but a new journey together in a brand new city as husband and wife!
When I first met up with Ashley and her bridesmaids on the morning of their wedding, she was calm and excited for the day ahead. We began with gathering some details and documenting those small touches that she had put so much love and time in to assembling for the day.

Over at the Otter Lake Recreation Centre, the florals were woven into the arbor, the chairs were aligned in place, and the view? Well, the view was perfect.

I loved that Ashley decided to walk down the aisle with both of her parents. Such a beautiful moment!

To say their wedding day had the best weather of the season would be an understatement.

After the Ceremony, we stepped away for some bride and groom portraits. Needless to say, these two rocked it!

The Reception room was full of navy details and the cutest travel guest “book” you’ve ever seen! Instead of a traditional guestbook, guests signed a globe with messages of good luck and happiness for the future.

Time for some ‘formal‘ introductions!…

…and toasts throughout dinner.

When it came time to cutting the cake, they agreed not to smush any in each other’s faces…

No, seriously, don’t…

…but do you think they listened? ;)

Remember that incredible view of Otter Lake? Well, it only gets better with golden sunlight and the loveliest of bride and grooms!

Ashley and Tariq, your happiness and support is the reason I love photographing weddings. You made the day comfortable and exciting for all your guests and I know I speak for everyone when I say we’ll miss you for the next year as you begin a new adventure in Winnipeg. You two deserve the world and I look forward to seeing where this world takes you.
Much love, A.
