ometimes I’m lucky to have the opportunity to photograph a wedding alongside local photographers in the Ottawa area. Other times, I’m really lucky, and I get to second shoot with them on multiple occasions! Kelly and John’s wedding was my third time working alongside Sam of SD Photography, and every time we work together I get a deeper appreciation for her talents and her ability to connect with her clients on a personal level. She’s always a joy to work with and the friendship we’ve made outside of work is one that I cherish fondly.
On this occasion, I was asked to meet John and his groomsmen in Orleans to photograph their ‘groom-prep’ while Sam was with Kelly and her bridesmaids in Winchester.

John’s mum almost had me in tears the whole morning. She was so proud of her son and you could tell this moment meant a lot to her.

John’s groomsmen knew just how to mix style and comfort. Matching white sneakers, cool linen shirts and a pop of blue on their ties.

Next, we joined Sam and the girls at Terrace Green Bed and Breakfast. This venue is a hidden gem in the countryside of Winchester. It’s quaint, quiet and full of interesting details.

While vendors want nothing more than a wedding day to go as smoothly as possible, sometimes things go awry…like not being able to contact your florist…on the day of your wedding…
…luckily, Kelly’s ‘man of honour’ was able to pull some strings and contact a florist who could put together a beautiful combination of wild flowers for their day. They showed up in perfect time and the bouquets fit in so well with the vibe of the day.

Kelly had some of the most supportive bridesmaids. The mishap with the bouquets and the threat of rain was all manageable with her friends by her side.

The Ceremony and Reception took place at ‘The Winchelsea‘; a small wedding venue with all the charm you could ask for and the best staff, who knew just how to handle a wedding with rain.

Monograms and initials personalized the wedding to be uniquely their own.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Kelly walked down the aisle with her son.

Anyone who wasn’t already in tears, cried tears of laugher at the officiant’s sermon. He knew how to keep the Ceremony lively.

This picture says more about their happiness in this moment than words ever could.

Cocktail hour took place indoors – away from the rain – and guests enjoyed snacks from the candy bar.

Their reception space was both rustic and elegant, with accents of wood, florals and glass.

The rain stopped shorty after cocktail hour, but the tears kept on rolling throughout the night. Their families had such incredible things to say about Kelly and Jon, and their love for the bride and groom was only matched by their appreciation for their marriage.
Much love to the newlyweds!
I’m thankful to all the vendors who helped make this wedding such a success!
