To think that this is the last time this summer that I’ll get to photograph a beach newborn session at Petrie Island is a very sad thought indeed! Meeting expecting and growing families on Ottawa beaches for their early motherhood photos has truly been a highlight of my summer, and as I wrapped up this session with Joanna, Marty and Nico, I couldn’t help but feel like fall was just on the horizon. Now, as I drive through my neighbourhood, I can see the leaves are changing and it’s already starting to feel like those warm summer evenings are drawing to a close…I’m just so grateful for all the parents and new babies that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in 2021 and I can’t wait for more motherhood sessions on the beach come spring of next year (see me wishing away the snow already?)!

Petrie Island is a location that I love visiting for newborn and maternity photos for the simplicity and beauty of the sprawling beaches with soft white sand. If you’re familiar with my work, then you might have noticed that Petrie Island has been one of my go-to locations for portraits this summer, even with the 40-60 minute rush hour commute to get all the way through the East end and onto the island (gulp)! It’s actually perfect for Orleans families tho, and despite the long drive I’d still never hesitate to choose it as a favourite location for family photos in Ottawa!

I hope you love this newborn beach session with one of the smilies babies I’ve ever met! It’s been an absolute privilege to get to know Marty and Joanna through their time together as new parents (you can check out their fall maternity Rockcliffe photos here!) and if you ask me, a perfect way to wrap up summer newborn sessions on the beach!
