Laura and Adrien planned their Royal Ottawa Golf Club wedding for the first official weekend of Summer!
It’s a fun fact that was shared at Laura and Adrien’s wedding reception: these two actually met for the first time on the infamous day of the Ottawa Sinkhole! That’s right – that chaotic day back in 2016 that swallowed that van and shut down Rideau Street for weeks! Despite the heavy traffic across the city streets, they still managed to meet up downtown and hit it off right away on their first date.
What came next was another glitch of technology – which again, almost changed the course of their relationship before date 2 had even been planned! What we can all learn from these two newlyweds is that sometimes love is worth fighting for; it doesn’t always come easy, but you work for the things in life that make you happiest.
Laura, Adrien – I’ll never again be able to hear the world ‘sinkhole’ and not think of you…haha – and I mean that in the sweetest way possible!!! ;) Thank you for inviting us to celebrate your Royal Ottawa Golf Club wedding and I hope you love these photos from your day! The ones with Simon make me smile every time and the ones of you two looking as happy and as in love as you are make me want to go right back to your wedding day and live it all over again!! Adrien and the guys stole the spotlight with their classic black suits, suspenders and bow ties from Morris Formalwear.
This day was the perfect example of why I love ‘first looks’; though the rain was threatening all morning, it held off for their first look and all portraits right up until the ceremony! As it rained for the rest of the evening, this meant we were able to take all of their portraits outside in natural light earlier in the day instead of with flash or under the cover of umbrellas after the ceremony.
It was a quick drive along the Parkway to the ceremony at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa.
And then back up the parkway again to the Royal Ottawa Golf Club for the reception and cocktail hour!
I’ll finish this post with party dancing, and Adrien and Laura’s first dance as husband and wife!
As Laura’s dad so perfectly quoted, “The happiest people don’t have the best of everything…they make the best of everything they have”. Congratulations to these sweet newlyweds!!
