Ever wonder what it would be like to throw a small backyard wedding? Well get ready to fall in love with Emily and Alex’s backyard ceremony and Social restaurant wedding reception in Ottawa! ‘Cause when it really comes down to it, what more do you need than family, friends, and a couple bottles of bubbly to celebrate your ‘I do’s’, right! Ok, ok…well – besides the obvious of having an officiant and the legal paperwork there too – I can think of one more thing that was truly needed…Archie the dog! Ask any guest there, and I’m sure they’d tell you the same thing: this wedding day would not have been the same without Archie (and you’ll see photo evidence of his involvement as you scroll through this post)!! Where else could a dog be so freely welcomed in a marriage ceremony, and where else could these two have planned such an intimate and personal wedding day??
After the ceremony, we made our way to Social restaurant in downtown Ottawa for Emily and Alex’s reception, where an entire corner of the restaurant had been reserved for the wedding’s 24 guests. The evening was relaxed – without too much emphasis on the ‘traditional’ wedding events – and was filled with laughter, thoughtful toasts, and delicious food (including a homemade wedding cake, made by the bride herself)!! From the natural garden setting, to the personal wedding vows, to the low key dinner reception at Social, this wedding day was colourful, fun and one of the most intimate wedding days I’ve ever had the pleasure witness!!

Big thanks to Emily, Alex and all their wedding guests!! We had the pleasure of meeting many of you at Taylor and Josh’s wedding earlier this year, and to get to see you again and celebrate two such amazing people is the very reason I love this job so much!!
